Laura grew up in Hackettstown, New Jersey. She received her nursing degree at Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana in 1985. After that she moved to Nashville, Tennesse and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 1990. She worked as a pediatric nurse in the hospital for eight years and than started practicing as a family nurse practitioner in 1990. Primarily she has worked in Pediatrics, and part time in family practice and is certified through the American Nursing Credentially Center. She met her husband while at Vanderbilt and moved to Virginia in 1993. He practices as a physician at the Fredericksburg Christian Health Center. They have four daughters; Lauren, Hannah, and twins Amy and Alyse.
