Jenny Welham, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the
University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1991. Her post-graduate experience includes three years of research in antibody-related cancer treatment and islet cell transportation for insulin-dependent diabetes. In 1994, she attended the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine where her Medical Doctorate was conferred in 1998.
Dr. Welham received her Pediatric training at Kapiolani Women's and Childern's Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii fro 1998 to 2001. She received the Intern of the Year award in 1999 and Ralph Platou Award for Outstanding Educational Achievement and Model Performance as a senior resident. She is a Board Certified Pediatrician.
The Welhams relocated to Virginia in 2001 to be closer to family. They have two children, Grant and Malia.
Dr. Welham joined Preferred Pediatrics in February of 2001 and is pleased to work with all of the caring and knowledgeable physicians and staff who share her family-centered approach in the care of our children. Her special interests are breastfeeding, children with chronic and acute medical conditions, preventive medicine, and parenting.
